The LORAM rail grinder train has a very large tanker of water and man operates a fire house at the tail end of the train extinguishing any small fires created by the process. On occasion, like the one described in your blog, a hot spot is missed. I have also heard of malfunctioning traction motors on the locomotives causing fires on more than one occasion.
